Meet Ray, a Cuban/Mexican filmmaker hailing from Austin, Texas.
Back in 2017, Ray kicked off his filmmaking journey with his first project, "Wrestling With Independence," a documentary that not only grabbed attention but also snagged him the Best Feature Doc award at the Burning Hammer Film Festival in London.
As a Camera Operator on "Take Pains. Be Perfect" between 2018 and 2019, Ray injected his unique flair into the visual narrative, making every shot count. The movie would go on the premier on PBS and garner many accolades.
In 2020, Ray turned his lens towards the heart-stirring events of the George Floyd protests in "From Austin To Minneapolis," capturing the essence of the movement with raw intensity. That same year, he explored the undead lore for PBS (Exhumed: A History of Zombies), contributing to the Monstrum series with a deep dive into zombie mythology.
2021 brought a new adventure with Rooster Teeth's "Face Jam," where Ray hit the road from Austin to Colorado, documenting every moment of the epic journey. His work led to him field producing and shooting "Face Jam's Truck'd Up" the following year.
2023 saw Ray stepping up for inclusivity, throwing the spotlight on emerging filmmakers of color, and opening doors for them to shine in the filmmaking world.
In 2024 - 2025 Ray’s talents were acquired by Tribe Gaming. He worked across docs, commercials, events, and studio shoots for partners like WWE, Samsung, and AT&T, handling everything from planning and budgets to shooting and post.
In 2026, Ray hit a massive personal goal: working alongside likeminded, passionate, artistic people who all share the same mission, to do cool shit. Galactic Armory brought him on as Director of Photography, where he can fully throw himself into the world of 3D printing, prop making, and film. Surrounded by builders and creators, Ray is focused on making awesome looking work, pushing visuals forward, and helping turn big ideas into real, tangible projects, with only more exciting and ambitious work ahead.
Ray's not just about documentaries; his creative prowess spans directing live shows that capture the audience's imagination, producing compelling narratives, and operating cameras for high-octane reality shows.
Ray has a cat named Rayo and he will do anything for him.
He’s also just a really chill guy.
